| Boxeo / Muay Thai | Guantes, vendas y protector bucal. |
Efectivo o Bizum.
English
The hardest part of starting a combat sport is not the training. It is walking through the door the first time without knowing what is expected of you. So here it is in advance.
Before you come
Message us on WhatsApp at +34 711 010 578 and we'll confirm the day. Arrive 10 minutes early: there is a registration form and waiver to complete, and if you are under 18 a parent or guardian has to sign it.
We're at C. Herrería 30, San Roque. Park in the Guardia Civil area at the bottom of the street.
What to bring
| Class | What you need |
|---|---|
| BJJ Gi | A gi. If you don't have one, tell us beforehand and we'll sort it. |
| BJJ No-Gi / MMA | Rashguard or fitted shirt, and shorts with no pockets or zips. |
| Boxing / Muay Thai | Gloves, wraps and a mouthguard. |
| All classes | Water, flip-flops for off the mat, short nails. |
A mouthguard is compulsory for any sparring. A groin guard is recommended. No zips, buttons or jewellery on the mat — they catch and they cut.
How the class runs
- Warm-up — mobility, movement and breakfalls. This is where you learn to fall, which is the part you'll use most.
- Technique — the instructor shows a movement, breaks it down, and you drill it with a partner who isn't resisting.
- Resisted practice — you apply it against someone who isn't cooperating. On day one, nothing working is normal.
- Sparring — optional in your first class. Nobody will push you to roll if you'd rather not.
The tap
It is the rule everything else rests on. When something hurts, feels wrong, or you simply don't like it, tap twice clearly on your partner or on the mat. Everything stops at that instant, every time. It is not surrender — it is how you train hard without getting injured. Deliberately ignoring a tap means permanent expulsion.
On ego: you will get submitted, probably many times, possibly by someone smaller than you. That is the class working properly, not you failing.
The five day-one mistakes
- Going full force. Maximum strength gasses you in three minutes and raises the injury risk — yours and your partner's.
- Refusing to tap. See above.
- Holding your breath. Everyone does it. Breathe like you're running.
- Training ill or with an open wound. Tell the instructor and watch instead. Nobody minds.
- Comparing yourself to someone with two years on the mat. Compare yourself to you, a month from now.
Afterwards
You'll ache in odd places and probably sleep well. If you want to carry on, it's €50 a month for one discipline, no joining fee and no minimum contract. Cash or Bizum.
